Adventure, Ocean Voyage

Hello everyone from the USS Morning Star, our colonial sailing vessel! It has been a perfectly thrilling month on the high seas. We have jumped back in time, wishing on the second star to the right, and sailed straight on until morning.

Our ship, is fully supplied with all of the charm of a vessel of the golden age of sail. Complete with old fashioned rigging, billowing white sails, and a wooden helm, she is a beauty to behold. Elaborate cabins grace her interior with heavy mahogany furniture, blithe chintz curtains, elegant china and silver dining ware, a fully stocked galley, writing rooms with desks, ink wells and quill pens, etc. We have on board a cartographer, an astrologer, an historian, chaplains, adventurers, merchants, maids, an apothecary etc.

Our voyage has taken us around the coast of Africa to the glorious west Indies, laden with exotic spices, rich teas, and elegant silks. We have weathered storms, and seen sunny coasts, lined with tropical plants.

Our greatest adventure was when we were raided by pirates, who boarded and kidnapped me! I was tied up, and hidden in their hide out near their treasure! When our ship bravely defeated the rogues, they found bits of a treasure map, which led them to me. After I was rescued, we recovered the bounty. It was amazing to see the old chest, laden with glittering gold and jewels!

We have enjoyed colonial coast meals and dishes, including: teas, ginger spice cake, sesame seeds cheese wafers, and crab cakes.

We were invited to the Captain’s ball, where we danced traditional English country dances, in full costume!

As I stare out at the calm blue waters, and the rocky Indian coast, the warm breeze touches my face , and the soft breeze tousles my hair. I am so glad that we were able to experience life in the golden age of sail!
